In India, marriages are celebrated like the festivals. India is the home of many different religions and marriage customs and rituals are changed in every tradition.

Every year, there are about 10 million marriages happening in India and 75% of them are hindu weddings. Every hindu family spends a large portfolio of their finance in arranging a wedding.

There are many rituals which are associated with the hindu marriages like - kanyadaan, panigrahana and saptapadi etc. With the community, many new rituals are added.

In a muslim marriage, it happenes like in the middle east way. There are nikahas in which a contract is signed between the groom and bride and some financial amount is paid to the bride.

In the Sikh religion, marriages happen just like the hindu religion and couples round themselves of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhism.

Christian marriages also happen in India especially in Goa and they follow their rituals as per according to the christianity.
