A function is a specified bit of code, which is made to perform the certain tasks. A function is necessarily to return the value which is by default the integer value. A function is needed to have some argument values to perform its operation.

The purpose of an argument is to complete the need of data which is needed to be perform the tasks. It is an incredible fact in the ColdFusion framework, that it provides the approximately 250 user-defined functions. Although, a user can make its own functions.

There are many type of ColdFusion functions -

string-manipulation functions
date functions
array functions
mathematical functions

To define a ColdFusion function, it is necessary to write a function name followed by the opening and closing tags.

Their output can be directly shown to the user by using the <cfoutput> tags. ColdFusion function has the complete facility to make the nested functions.

The nested function should be written in the “#” symbols.
